This Sunday at the Bay Area Book Festival — and Some Exciting News

If you're in the Bay Area and looking for something fun to do this Sunday, May 31st, I would love to see you at the Bay Area Book Festival's Bookworm Block Party in downtown Berkeley. I'll be doing a live reading of The Heart That Found You at 1:20pm on the stage next to The Collective Book Studio (booths 19 to 21) in MLK Jr. Civic Center Park, as part of Drag Story Hour with the wonderful performer Black Benatar. The whole event is free, outdoors, and genuinely a great time for families. They shut down the streets around Allston Way for the day. More details at baybookfest.org/bookworm-block-party.

Earlier this month also brought some exciting news. On May 15th, The Heart That Found You received the 2026 Silver Award in the Children's Picture Book (0 to 3 Years) category from the Independent Book Publishers Association, the largest independent publishing association in the U.S. with over 3,200 members. The award recognizes outstanding independently published books, evaluated on content, design, and overall quality. When I wrote this story for my daughter, I had no idea it would find its way to something like this.

If you've been wanting to help get the book into more hands, a short review on Amazon or Goodreads helps families who haven't heard of it find it. And if you have a favorite local library or bookstore, even just mentioning the title to someone there makes a difference. They can order it through their regular Simon & Schuster book rep. The ISBN is 978-1-68555-085-1, published by The Collective Book Studio.

Thank you, as always, for being part of this. 💛
